"BioMarin sued Medicis, which is best known for wrinkle-corrector Restalyn. The suit was then dropped and the two settled the dispute out of court. They finally reached an agreement this week, reducing the licensing payments on Orapred starting "after" July; Medicis also reduced the price it will charge BioMarin to buy all of Orapred, and it agreed to lend up to $25 million to BioMarin, via a convertible note.
All of this is a long-winded way to say: It appears Medicis did indeed try to make the Orapred market look stronger than it really is."

"Fast Food Restaurant Robbed Sunday Evening
No arrests have been made after a Hispanic man robbed the La Caada Flintridge McDonald's restaurant at gunpoint Sunday evening.
The man entered the restaurant, located at 449 Foothill Blvd., around 6 p.m. and demanded the employees behind the counter put the money from the cash registers into a black plastic bag.
"He let them see the gun," said Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Department Sgt. Victor Ibarra. "He didn't pull it out. He showed it to them."
The man, who was described as being in his early- to late-20's wearing jeans and a brown zip-up hooded sweatshirt, left on foot with the bag of money."
Hold 'Em, Fold 'Em, Cheat 'Em - Tricks, scams, and crimes for winning at online poker. By Jonathan M. Katz
From: NewsTrove.com
"It's not, but his accuser's suspicion wasn't unusual either. In an anonymous world where everyone is after your money, and where lying and preying on the weak are encouraged, it's easy to get paranoid that others are cheating. And in fact, others are cheating - or trying to. The same qualities that have made the rest of the Internet a wonderland for deviants, thieves, and nihilists of all stripes - near-perfect anonymity, the ease of taking on multiple personas - encourage behavior most would be too scared to try at a poker game on the Vegas strip."
Citizen Jordan - A basketball legend's soulless retirement caps his soulless career. By Charles P. Pierce
From: NewsTrove.com
"Why you don't want to be like Mike
Michael Jordan, a once-famous basketball personage, announced last week that he had teamed up with a Chicago development firm to build a brand-new casino resort about a half-block east of Caesars Palace, just off the Strip, in Las Vegas. There is no place in America demonstrably more homogenized or more corporatized than Vegas. Logos have swarmed in from every point on the compass. Las Vegas now differs from, say, Charlotte only in that it has casinos instead of Gaps and Banana Republics, except that it has those, too. This is Michael Jordan's kind of sin. This is Michael Jordan's kind of town."

"The poker hands in Rounders are supremely realistic. We never see four aces losing out to a straight flush (I'm looking at you, every other poker movie). And it isn't just the cards that the film gets right - the betting amounts and the table talk are also dead-on. When I covered the World Series of Poker in 1999 (yes, before it was cool, waaaaaay before; James McManus didn't go until 2000!) all the pro players there agreed that Rounders was the first time a movie got poker right.
Tilt - a new dramatic series on ESPN (debuting Thursday, 9 p.m. ET) - gets poker right, too."
