The Board of Investments (BOI) is set to impose stricter requirements such as a higher investments threshold on information and communication technology (ICT) projects to make sure that only world-class and high-tech companies will set up shop in the Philippines.
BOI executive director Elmer Hernandez said the changes in the prerequisites for ICT projects would be contained in the implementing rules and regulations of the 2004 Investment Priorities Plan that is set to be published soon.
Hernandez said the BOI has decided to require proponents of ICT projects to make an upfront investment of $2."

"Temasek Holdings has consulted us to check whether it is qualified to buy a stake in Hana," a Finacial Regulatory Service (FSS) official told AFP.
Temasek is pushing to buy 10 percent of Hana, Yonhap news agency said, adding the Singaporean investment firm has already purchased a 3.5 percent stake.
The FSS official gave no figures, saying only that foreign industrial capitalists are normally permitted to buy up to four percent of a domestic bank."
