San Diego firm buying Del Monte Center

"Monterey's retail hub, the Del Monte Center, is being sold to a San Diego investment company whose holdings are primarily large, national chain stores.
Center officials confirmed Friday that the 628,000-square-foot shopping center is in escrow but they declined to elaborate.
American Assets Real Estate Group, a San Diego firm with properties throughout California and Nevada, have met with Monterey city officials and have formed partnerships bearing the Monterey center's name.
John Chamberlain, an American Assets principal, was not available for comment Friday."

"ISLAMABAD, April 2: The government is likely to reduce the General Sales Tax (GST) rate from the existing 15 per cent to 12 per cent in the 2004-05 budget in order to widen the tax base.
Informed sources told Dawn here on Friday that two separate rates of the GST were likely to be enforced for 'necessary items' and 'non-necessary' items.
