Together we stand divided we fall
From: NewsTrove.com
"We have gathered here to commemorate a special day in our national history. Fifty two years ago, on 20th October, 1952, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Paul Ngei, Kungu Karumbah, Fred Kubai, Achieng' Oneko, Bildad Kaggia and other heroes were arrested and jailed because of their love for this country.
These heroes were willing to sacrifice everything - including their own lives-to win our freedom. We remember these patriots and many others whose sacrifices played a prominent role in shaping the destiny of our nation.
On this occasion, I salute all Kenyans wherever they are, as well as our friends who have found time to join us."

Panel shelves county executive's debt plan
From: NewsTrove.com
"Walker's pension-debt plan is too risky, would create greater budget problems down the road and could take a year to shape, Finance Committee members said before a 5-1 vote shelving the plan for more study.
The move puts the onus on supervisors to find a combination of budget changes, possibly including tax increases, to replace $10.5 million that Walker projected might be saved in 2005 under his 30-year borrowing plan.
Key supervisors already had signaled their skepticism about the pension-borrowing deal."
