ISLAMABAD: Total tax revenue collection for the fiscal year 2003-04 has reached near Rs 517 billion, a CBR official said Monday.
He said that during appropriation of tax revenue with banks, tax offices of CBR and Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue the total collection of revenue stands close to Rs 517 billion.
"Before finalizing tax revenue for the last fiscal year we are still matching the revenue data with financial institutions, tax offices and AGPR to ensure that there was no lapse in calculation," the official said."

"THE Philippine government will push for the passage of a law that would raise taxes on petroleum products by two pesos per liter to raise 29 billion pesos in additional revenue, Trade and Industry Secretary Cesar Purisima said.
In a statement, Purisima said the government intends to impose the additional levy "as progressive(ly) as possible" to mitigate its impact on consumers.
The exemption of highly sensitive fuel products such as liquefied petroleum gas and a lower tax rate for diesel are also being considered, the trade secretary said.

THE PROPOSED two pesos per liter increase in taxes of petroleum products got a boost Monday from the Department of Trade and Industry, which said that the measure was "one of the most viable alternatives" to address the ballooning budget deficit.
