"Education
More money is being spent in North Carolina on K-12 education, but one problem is that much of it doesn't reach the classroom. About 36 percent of North Carolina's K-12 public education budget is spent in noninstructional areas, excluding food service, according to calculations of U.S. Department of Education data. If half of this noninstructional spending could be re-directed to the classroom, instructional spending would increase by more than $1 billion annually. I recommend following the lead of the private sector and using modern technology to cut layers of middle management in the public schools as a way to reach this goal."

Bush's tax cuts: Of course they benefited the wealthy
From: NewsTrove.com
"THE TOP 1 percent of income earners pay nearly 40 percent of all federal income taxes. The top 50 percent of income earners pay nearly all federal income taxes (96 percent).
So when taxes are cut across the board, as they have been under President Bush, the "rich" benefit more because they pay more in both real terms and as a percentage of income. Even the poorest taxpayers received a tax cut from President Bush, but the total amount they get back is a trifle in comparison to the total amount the rich get back - because the total amount they earn is a trifle in comparison to what the rich earn."

Dale Mathews, who has owned the store for 30 years, said it's growing from 20,000 square feet to 36,000 square feet. He will use 4,200 square feet of new space to expand the ski shop and rent about 12,000 to tenants. He says he's searching for tenants that complement his outdoor gear business, such as a foot doctor or travel agency. The expanded ski store should be open later this year."
