HANNIBAL, Mo. - Shoppers took to the stores this weekend during Missouri's sales tax holiday Friday through Sunday.
Retailers bolstered staffs, expanded hours and posted additional signs reminding shoppers about the tax holiday, which exempted sales tax collections on clothing, personal computers and school supplies.
One of the busier places this weekend was the River Bend Crossing, which houses Wal-Mart. The only empty parking spots Saturday afternoon were along the perimeter of the lot.
"We didn't know what to anticipate," said Tammy Closser, Wal-Mart co-manager."
Brown's inheritance tax grab
From: NewsTrove.com

The dramatic increase - revealed by the Conservatives - has left huge swathes of Middle England facing hefty tax bills for property inherited from their parents or other family members."

Compared to the national average of the ratio of government employees to people, the upstate region -- defined as all the counties excluding Long Island, New York City, Westchester, Rockland and Putnam -- was 25 percent higher."
