"Unincorporation pays taxes
Editor:
Incorporation, God I'm sick of hearing people say we need to be incorporated. Krueger says we need it because we are not a "legal entity'. Funny, he didn't say that when he's looking for votes. He doesn't say that when he's picking up his paycheck from unicorpated taxpayers!! He can't locate a person, who he can use in our whole town to be responsible to distribute government money so he uses some lawyer who's built a cabin on East Lake Road and George Evans of the Relief Fund - isn't that convenient!!"

"I disagree with the writer's premise. If you think people are coming here just to work, abolish family immigration. Then see millions of undocumenteds coming here just to be with family members who are here working. One fact that is largely ignored is that a significant percentage of Mexican immigrants, who make up a majority of the undocumented people here, would prefer to come here, work for a while, and then go back to Mexico to buy the property that is out of their reach considering Mexico's low wages and high unemployment rate. Our immigration laws don't permit them to do that."

By Erin E. Arvedlund

The Russian state has first rights to Yukos property with its claim for back taxes. But Group Menatep, the investment company through which the jailed billionaire Mikhail Khodorkovsky holds his controlling stake in the company, has a $1.6 billion loan to Yukos.
The chairman of Yukos, Viktor Gerashchenko, assured investors Monday that the company would be able to produce and sell oil at least until the end of September, rebutting statements that it was just days away from a bankruptcy filing."
Court says Russia can collect Yukos taxes
From: NewsTrove.com
"MOSCOW -- A Russian court on Tuesday rejected the Yukos oil company's appeal to suspend government efforts to collect $3.4 billion in back taxes -- a massive bill that has put Russia's largest oil producer on the verge of ruin.
The Moscow Arbitration Court denied a petition from Yukos, which asked it to put bailiffs' steps to collect the 2000 debt on hold until appeals against the seizure of core subsidiaries have been heard."

"Brown's Stealth Taxes Equivalent To 16.5p In The Pound, Claim Tories
by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London
16 August 2004
Britons are paying the equivalent of 16.5p in the pound on the basic rate of income tax as a result of dozens of 'stealth taxes' introduced under the Chancellorship of Gordon Brown, the Conservative Party has alleged.
Following a new analysis of the 66 stealth taxes introduced since the Labour Party came to office in 1997, Conservative Party researchers claim that if translated into income tax, the basic rate would soar from 22p in the pound to 38.5p."
