The Year 2005 Rent Increase Guideline
Each year the Ontario government announces the province's rent increase guideline for the following year. The rent increase guideline is the maximum amount by which a landlord can increase the rent for a current tenant without approval from the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal.
The 2005 guideline is 1.5 per cent.
The new rent increase guideline applies to a rent increase that begins any time between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2005, and applies to most residential units in Ontario."

NEW SKEENA Forest Products is bankrupt and facing liquidation after its last prospective saviour broke off negotiations to buy the company last week.
Talks with New York vulture fund Matlin Patterson and its subsidiary Papyrus Investments continued up until Sept. 10, New Skeena CEO Dan Veniez said in an affidavit filed in court late last week.
He tried to restart discussions with them but the potential investors gave formal notice Sept. 13 that they will no longer participate in the reorganization of the company.
"The parties were unable to agree on an acceptable restructuring formula," Veniez said in the affidavit."
