"PORTSMOUTH - It may be open land, but it's not open space. The Portsmouth Tax Assessment Board of Review Tuesday rejected a request from the Carnegie Abbey Club Ltd. and The Order of St. Benedict for tax relief under the state's Farm, Forest and Open Space Act.
Carnegie officials wanted their golf course property deemed "open space" to reap the act's tax benefits, but the board concluded it didn't come close to meeting the act's requirements. The vote was an affirmation of an earlier decision by Portsmouth Tax Assessor David E. Dolce."
