From: NewsTrove.com

Daniels entered the debate with a verbal swing by stating it was was time for a change in party rule. He said it will take a change in crew to solve the monetary problems now facing Indiana.
One of the major points of argument was education and funding for full-day kindergarten, an issue Kernan said is of utmost importance.
However, higher education was not addressed until the press conference after the debate."
Rockportpilot.com News Story
From: NewsTrove.com
"Dear Editor,
I am a concerned property owner in Rockport who plans on retiring there when I reach the age of 65, if not sooner. My school and homestead taxes will be frozen thanks to the state and county; but the Rockport City Council and mayor refuse to freeze the city taxes giving no consideration to the 80 percent of citizens who voted for the freeze in the last general election. These officials were elected by the people to represent the people. Something is wrong.
Respectfully, a concerned citizen,
Mary B. Gilliland

TCS: Tech Central Station - All For The Company
From: NewsTrove.com
"Any reader of business newspapers (and his dog) knows that most European economies suffer from long-term structural recession, high unemployment, stiff labor markets, heavy burden of taxation and a number of other obstacles to growth. One might therefore expect that the European stock markets should reflect this gloomy balance and lag hopelessly behind their American counterparts, let alone the dynamic Asian economies.
The reality may be surprising, however. If we compare the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) Europe Index and MSCI USA Index returns from early 1970 to the end of July 2004, we obtain the average annual rate of 11."

Baseball Prospectus | Articles | D.C. At The Bat
From: NewsTrove.com
"The business tax would be a new surcharge, so there are no worries about funneling off existing tax revenue. The thing about new taxes, though, is that you can only pass them once. Notes Ed Lazere of the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute, a budget watchdog group opposed to the current stadium deal: "Elected officials are always saying, 'Well, we raised taxes last year, we shouldn't be going to the well again.'"
And sometimes the well just runs dry, as their neighbors in Maryland found out when that state built Baltimore's two new downtown sports stadiums with revenue from four new statewide sports lotteries."
